Becoming and being are not the same thing. Becoming means you have yet to attain something, but being means you have already received the fullness of that thing.
Since many believers have yet to understand or discover this, they strive to be anointed instead of living from the anointing that Christ has already deposited in them.
To understand this vibrant reality, we must understand God’s mindset about the new creation.
Acts 20:35 states: “Now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
This verse reveals that God intentionally gave us an inheritance found in His Word. Our responsibility is simply to receive it and live it.
There is no formula—we don’t have to do a,b, c, and d for Godto give us the inheritance. Just believe what God says about you.
Another way we can approach this topic is by reading Ephesians 1:15-19, which states:
“15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people;
"16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers;
" 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know Him better."
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people,
19 and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength.”
Overall, the passage is saying that once our eyes of understanding are opened, we will be able to see and be what God originally designed.
As a result, you will see yourself and others as holy and righteous. More importantly, you will receive the favor and awareness of who you really are.
Ephesians 2:10 further justifies this confidence by stating: “We have become His poetry, are created people that will fulfill the destiny He has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!”
We are a complete package in Christ! Take this example: when Amazon delivers your order, is it not well-packaged in a box? Or is the product you ordered just left out in the open on your front porch?
Don’t we open the package later and discover how the product functions or operates?
In the same way, it takes receiving by faith and discovering how God made us to function. This requires serious reading of the manual—in our case, that is the Bible.
In this age, it's easy to look at social media and say, "I want to become like him or her," but meanwhile, God has written instructions on how you are supposed to function.
You can try and imitate another person's function, but if you do it that way, you won't be fulfilled.
Take it this way: can a Toyota function as a Mercedes car? No, because they don't have the same written instructions.
Yes, they are both cars with separate and distinctive functions, but they are both
made for humans to enjoy. God has given you and me different functions in the new creation, but we each will find true fulfillment through them.
